Borgo di Pareti con preesistenze archeologiche

Pareti is a district of Nocera Superiore, at the foot of Mount Albino, in a naturally favourable location thanks to the presence of water and fertile agricultural land. Together with Pucciano and Petraro, it forms one of the oldest parts of the town.

This area represents the original nucleus of Ancient Nuceria, inhabited as early as the 6th century BC by Oscan peoples. It was here that the first settlements, the archaic walls, important public buildings and the large extra-urban necropolis arose. Over the centuries, with the decline of the ancient city, Pareti gradually transformed into a medieval village, whilst maintaining a deep connection with the archaeological heritage of the area.

Today, Pareti preserves key traces of Nuceria’s long history: from the pre-Roman period to the Roman era, from the Middle Ages to the modern age, with the Church of St Bartholomew the Apostle as its principal historical and religious landmark.
